Couch Freaks is a skydiving boogie (a boogie is like a convention) that
we all go to each year over Labor Day weekend. Most of us leave on
Wednesday of the week before Labor day and get back on Monday for 5 long
days of skydiving! There is usually 500 skydivers that come from
across the US and even the world to jump. The Des Moines Skydivers
(the Couch Freaks), whom run the boogie, usually bring in 2 Twin Otters, a
Skyvan, a King Air, and even specialty aircraft such as hot air balloons,
helicopters, etc. Most people camp out at the airport for the entire
boogie. We are so valuable to the local economy that they let us camp
on the security side of the fence.. and people say skydivers are not trust
worthy!Its a great
time and definitely the best boogie of the year!
